Two nights away - need ideas and inspiration!!

Can't believe I'm posting this as we always seem to know where we want to go. Anyway, we've decided to have two nights away in the half term holidays, somewhere between southern England and north Midlands. We're generally agreed it will be some sort of hotel, happy with either budget or a bit more up market with indoor pool. OH wants something fun or somewhere to visit rather than trundling around the shops the whole time. Our daughter is 12. Can anyone give me inspiration - as I'm at home more it's me that comes up with the ideas and sorts it all out!!

I've spent ages coming up with ideas. No-one likes the thought of a couple of days by the sea. We've ruled out a London trip with show (which my daughter would really like to see if we went) as it's approx. £450 which is over budget. Thought about Chessington or Thorpe Park with two nights near there (we stayed at a lovely hotel near there before with indoor pool), but as we've done that before no-one is 100% inspired. Thought about Drayton Manor Park & Zoo, which hubby is half interested in but daughter says she'll be doing with the school next year.

How about Alton Towers? We went for a weekend not so long ago and it was great. They also have a spa, evening entertainment and nice restaurants to choose from?

Thanks for your reply. Looks like a good choice of rides and daughter likes, so am looking into accommodation.

Tickets are about 40pp for 2 days and around 110 per night for hotel...

There's a travelodge nearby 'west derby' that looks nice and its £30 per night Smile

Hello!

There are a lot of short breaks within the U.K on Go Groopie, a daily deals website and some of them include dinner and breakfast as well
