Hi I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a break in the UK for a few days in October. Would like somewhere to keep two toddlers busy but also somewhere nice as we are hotel snobs!!!

I think Northumberland is a really lovely place, loads to do for kids! But I suppose it depends how far away you are... We stayed in a really nice cottage near Alnwick castle. //www.sandandcastle.co.uk

Ooh was just going to suggest coming North! Im.Newcastle. We have Alnwick, Bamburgh and Tynemouth for great villages and beaches. Good museums in Newcastle (Discovery and Hancock), great parks - Saltwell Park.

It.may be cold, but wrapping up warm.would suffice.

Love Newcastle! The beaches are amazing in Northumberland. It was really warm when we went in July but I would go even in November!

www.polurrianhotel.com/ if Cornwall isn't too far or you, other great family hotels there are The Sands Resort or the Bedruthan steps hotel

This is nice www.luxuryselfcateringuk.com, we stayed there and it's great for kids as there's an indoor pool etc. Also lots to do in the area.

Have a look at our Local sites if you're hunting for things to do in a particular area of the U.K. Find the right Local site here: local.mumsnet.com/find-a-local-site
then click Things to Do. We also have listings for shops, attractions, services and more.
