Isle of Wight accommodation

We are planning a short trip to the Isle of Wight in September, about 4 days....can anyone recommend a cottage or other accommodation for my family? It's for 2 adults and 2 kids (3 months and 2 yrs).
I don't know the island very well but we'd quite like to be near the beach (ever the optimist!)...any hints also on what to do with them once we're there would be great! We will have a car....
Thanks

Hi,

The Isle of Wight is great, you will love it.

Have a think about which part of the Island you want to stay in first (some parts are quiet, some are touristy) www.isleofwightguru.co.uk/which-isle-of-wight-town-should-i-stay-in.html

A few ideas for good value accommodation:

  • Brambles Chine (or nearby Linstone Chine) in the quieter West Wight is right on the beach and has lots of privately owned chalets for 2 adults and 2 children on a shared site for £200-£500 per week (see

number 2 on link)
www.isleofwightguru.co.uk/cheap-isle-of-wight-accommodation.html

  • Newport has a Travelodge and a Premier Inn, ideal for short off peak stays though probably a bit cramped for your needs.

The Orchards (4.5, West Wight) www.orchards-holiday-park.co.uk/
Fort Holiday Park (4.5, South East Wight) www.fortholidaypark.co.uk/

  • There are cheap hotels, mostly around Sandown, Shanklin and Ryde.

If you fancy somewhere quiet and coastal will plenty of space then the first option is a good one.

If you want something a bit different/quirky/historic try this: www.isleofwightguru.co.uk/quirky-isle-of-wight-accommodation.html

Have a great time!

We stayed at Waverley Park Holiday Centre in Cowes, it was great we stayed in our motorhome but they have static caravans as well. Very close to the beach, good views and if you can go using www.redfunnel.co.uk/places-to-stay/accommodation-types/great-value-breaks/waverley-park-holiday-centre you can get a great price combined with the ferry. Osborne house is also within walking distance and there is a waitrose 1/2 mile from the park
