Romantic weekend away recommendations?

DH (bless him) wants to take me somewhere for a romantic weekend break.

Unfortunately the last time DH had this idea he picked the hotel that catered for weddings and didn?t turn the music off till 2am.
With the room in front of the car park where the wedding guests decided to then have a very loud conversation that went on forever.

So this time, I get the responsibility of choosing where we go.
The basic requirement is ?quiet? with places of interest near by to potter round and preferably a good restaurant close by.
We?re in the south east so also don?t want to travel more than a couple of hours.

Can anyone recommend something?

I can't vouch for it as we've not stayed there yet, but DH and I intend to go to the Pig in The New Forest to celebrate his 40th.

My mate stayed there and said it was lovely.

I would stay in the Thatched Cottage in Brockenhurst. I haven't stayed there but have eaten there and it was lovely.

The Ship Inn in Dunwich, Suffolk is wonderful. In a very pretty village right on the beach. Great restaurant as well.

It's near to an RSPB reserve but not too sure what else is around I'm afraid.

Only stayed there one night but going back in July for further exploration.

We stayed at the olde bell in Hurley last weekend - it was lovely!

We tried to book the pig for our anniversary in July but its fully booked already so I think you need to plan ahead with that one.
