hotels with kids club? Anywhere in south of England

I am looking for a holiday for me and my 7 year old daughter. It will be our first holiday just us since me and her dad separated and I'd love something along the south coast. We live in France, but I crave my homeland!
I don't really want a Butlins type holiday, but I would like some sort of kids club for my daughter.
Does anyone know of any small, friendly hotels? I;ve seen plenty of 5* hotels with kids clubs, but they are way out of the budget.

Any insider knowledge gratefully received.

Everywhere I know is expensive. How about centre parks or similar, not kids club but plenty for kids to do
