Hi
I have three boys 6,4 and six months I'm just contemplating a holiday this year.
We did center parcs last year the kids loved it but I booked in advance so saves enough to go.
I'm a lot shorter on money this year and with six month old baby don't want to travel to far.
We've already done haven , butlins.

I had the idea of a cottage holiday on a farm it's £380 for 7 days hubby said its to expensive and kids will be bored its in Shropshire which only 50-60 mile drive for me I'm the only one that drives. It's got a play area games room and is near enough to local attractions iron bridge , safari park etc it says on there site kids can feed the animals and do pony trekking.
My OH thinks it sounds boring but I like the idea.
Failing that was going to go Cotswold holiday park in a caravan which is 250 for the week but has a pool which might be better but it's a further drive for me don't look forward to that with then 8 month old.
I don't even know if I can be arses to go away now is it going to be more stress than it's worth and cost me money I haven't got? But what's life without a holiday help!

Ironbridge has loads of child friendly things to do if it rains or lots of beautiful walks if it doesn't, so I'd say Shropshire is a pretty good bet, you could spend at least three days there doing the various museums, and RAF Cosworth is another good day trip for young boys.

I think your husband sounds a bit negative and boring. There are loads of things to do and places to visit in Shropshire. We found a week wasn't long enough for us. Ironbridge has so many museums to see that you need more than a day to see them all. The safari park is excellent and the Severn Valley railway is brilliant if you like steam trains. We also went to Ludlow - really good castle and lovely town, and visited several National Trust properties in the area.

I've always fancied a farm cottage holiday and think kids of 6 & 4 will love feeding the animals and pony trekking.
There might be fresh eggs from the chickens etc... How lovely for kids to get to understand their food sources.

It's also worth bearing in mind that a lot of pools won't let you in with only 2 adults to 3 kids. So to go somewhere specifically for a pool could be pointless anyway.

Go for it and tell DH to give it a chance.

I live right next to the Severn valley railway . My 3 year old loves it and you can get off at each station and look around. There are local swimming pools too. Wyre forest is worth a visit too. A holiday is what you make it :)
