holiday in uk week after easter-but where?

suggestions please. Its my birthday week and we always book late to get the bargains. we usually go to the seaside and have done North devon, cornwall ,gower, pembrokeshire. but I want somewhere new :Town or country- where should we go ? me , dp and 9year old son, remember weather likely to be cold - like history and heritage and outdoors
