Myself, DH and 2 DCs aged 12 and 10 are staying in the Greenwich area for 3 nights next month. We're staying in a hotel, and we dont plan eating in the hotel as hotel meals generally tend to be pretty bleugh as well as ££££!!. I would love some suggestions of cheap and cheerful places to eat nearby for both lunch and dinner that would suit a family budget, Thanks in advance!

There is a Nandos down by the river and depending on when you are staying, if the market is on there are some lovely food stalls there.

If you wander up to Blackheath, the crown, princess of Wales and zero degrees all do good pub grub and are very family friendly.

There is also a lovely cake shop in blackheath called boulangerie jade.

If the weather is nice I would recommend getting some bits from M&S and sitting out in the park. The flower garden is stunning.

Just another thought, you could always head over to the O2, there are loads of places there.

Cafe Rouge, Pizza Express right in the town centre. Nandos/Zizi on the river are in a lovely location.

Greenwich is very family friendly. There are lots of nice cafes in Greenwich- going into the park to the huge playground with sandwiches from Greggs is easy!

Hope you have a great time Smile

Oh, and not sure how old your kids are but the 386 bus goes direct from Greenwich to Blackheath- its not an easy stroll if you have small kids (you are obviously far fitter than me Greywacke)!

If the market is open there are lovely food stalls there. If you want you could go to the local M and S and buy lunch and sit and look at the Cutty Sark. There's various pubs along the river, noodle places, fish and chips and a burger place. Nothing too fancy but decent enough (and cheap ish) for a meal. There is also two cages at the maritime museum which are decent.

And the pub in the market (with tables outside the pub but inside the market IYSWIM) is good - had a good child-friendly lunch there with friends recently.

Lots of fab stuff in the market especially on weekends. Not a place to take pushchairs though. If you walk down past the Maritime Museum (nice cafe) there's cheaper restaurants like Indian, sushi/noodles, Moroccan, etc.

Byron Burger on the river is good but chain-y. The Old Brewery is nice, and perfectly child-friendly in the daytime.
