How long are you staying for and what are your dates?

Also, what's the occasion? I could read your post title as "need somewhere as cheap as possible to stay, but don't want it to be a shithole" or equally as "it's a romantic night away so we're looking for a nice place, but don't have much of a budget"

If you just want something basic - I used to use the Premier Inn on North St on a weekly basis, was nothing more than a 'base' to head back to when visiting at weekends so I didn't want to any frills; it was about 8 years ago so I don't know how much it's changed since then (still looks exactly the same from the outside!). Found it to be consistent in terms of quality - by which I mean they were always easy to book, good value for the location (5-10min gentle walk to the station), reception open late, friendly staff, looked a bit tired run down (due to being popular with hen/stag groups I think) but never found it unclean.

Thanks Fringe. Going to a gig 01NOV. Just need somewhere to crash, but I'm a fussy bugger [hsmile]

Actually, the Jurys Inn would probably be worth a look - it's directly behind the station, it would be a 2min stroll from hotel reception to station ticket machine. Haven't actually stayed in the hotel (have only passed through lobby/reception and been in downstairs function rooms) so can't personally vouch for this one, but it's only been there a few years so probably in better condition than the Premier Inn was.

Yeah, looked at that, and it is favourite at the moment (stayed in Jury's Cardiff which was nice) but it's £79 and we aren't loaded. Maybe we should just go for it as we never and I mean NEVER get out. The gig we are going to is such an obscurity for us, that we cannot miss it, and would rather stay than drive.

To be honest, I was paying £65 a night for those stays at the Premier Inn 8 years ago, and I picked that hotel out mainly because by Brighton standards it was cheap. So even if you shop around, I don't think you're going to make a huge saving on £79 for the Jurys Inn.

True, just wondered if any had anything cheaper to suggest. Any kindly Jurys staff out there who may want to give me a discount perchance? Pretty please.

I find www.laterooms and //www.booking.com really good for cheap hotels.

If you still need hotel, besides laterooms and booking.com, I had a good experience in my last Christmas holidays booking with Fogg, really it's a useful web!

Hope you find it interesting
