Recipe of the week

penguinmum's creamy fish pie: smoky, seasonal fish in a creamy white sauce with grated, rather than mashed, tatties on top - a meal of the highest comfort-food order.

Go Go Hamsters.... this been discussed yet?

(21 Posts)
So, they seem to be the latest seasonal fave, but are they really worth all that? someone from another site posted some You Tube links for us to take a nosey at, compared with the advert put out by Go Go themselves, here..

home video number 1

home video number 2

and the advert itself...

here...

seems they have speeded up the hamsters for the sake of the ad. Apparantly they don;t move this fast, get stuck and ergo... kids get bored with toy.

I sooooooooooo wish I hadnt seen these links, but heck, its making me think twice about them. However, anyone got some good things to say? Will have to go back to thinking board for Christmas pressies if they really are pants!
Lego-wise, I am geeking out over this although I can't see how much it's likely to cost (obviously will depend on what you are building, but presumably there's a not-inconsiderable markup as well).

Just got him the BEN 10 chamber thingy for his Bday, and oh yes, he has a Ben 10 ready bed coming for Christmas too; so far for his birthday (had his party today) seems like the Bionicle leg thingies are popular, he must have had about 5 of those. Luckily they are all different grin but he loves them

the other thing my kids really love, get this! forget all those expensive stupidly ridiculously lets get a bridging loan out type of presents, my two love colouring! they spend more time colouring than with ANY of their other toys. just like a cardboard box really!
Now I don't feel like a mean mummy for ignoring DD's requests for one of these for either her birthday or Christmas.

My initial reaction when she asked was, nasty plastic tat that's going to take up way too much room and continuely need building and taking apart - sounds too much like hard work.

But now I know they don't even perform well, I'm definitely going to stick to my guns.

Am particularly impressed with link #2 and the hamster that seemed to suddenly keel over and die for no obvious reason.
Is your DS into Ben 10? DS is desperate for a Deluxe Omnitrix (and for anything else Ben 10-branded, but I am managing expectations on that).

boy 6 yrs (only just this Wednesday gone.. awwrrr..) and girl will be 4 a couple of days before Christmas.

DS so far has a Transformer bumblebee helmet, and DD has a Playskool one, even though they are for boys supposedly, she will just love putting the helmet on and chatting into the mike. Other than that, very little else, and money will be coming from reley's, so gotta get a wiggle on.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
