My 6yo dd loves craft so we gave her some children's knitting needles and a ball of wool which she has enjoyed getting to grips with. I knit so have helped her get going. Crochet is also easy to do, there are lots of books around to help. She also enjoys Where's Wally, the Rainbow Fairy books, Winnie the Witch, the Usborne 1000 things to spot books. Another big hit was a diary with a tiny padlock on it with a fancy pen to write down all her big ideas.

can't knit but can crochet might try and teach her could be fun. my mum has tried to teach me how to knitt. I just keep dropping stitches Grin but she can't crochet and people have tried and failed miserably to teach her. will take a look at the other ideas too. need a idea for her big present trouble is she already has a bike scooter 3ds and a camera so she has asked for a innotab but I'm thinking she is too old for it and she has a ds so she can play that

Maybe try some things for dressing up? not costumes per s but maybe things like floaty scarves, a tutu, tiara and other jewellery, and put them all in a nice box.
