How can I stop my electric fence unit being stolen?

I have now had 3 electric fence energisers stolen. I cant afford to keep replacing them! After the last one was stolen, one of my horses pushed through the fence, got it wrapped round his legs and has horrible lacerations from the electric rope. I wish I could show the thieves my boy's legs, but I bet they would not care.

So, how do you keep it safe? Im thinking of a padlockable box or something? Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I know someone who got a lockable metal box and drilled through the bottom. Then poured a sizeable patch of deep concrete. Bolted the box to the concrete then just has the leads coming through small holes. It won't work if you need a ground spike (the units that are mounted on the spike). Obviously it's only as strong as the padlock you put on it so you'll need a really good one.

can you put it somewhere new? do you have a neighbour who would put it in their shed for you? I think if someone want it they'll take it whatever you do. Sad Sad
