question about jodhpur sizing.

The tag on mine is so faded I cannot see the size....

They seem to be sized in inches, is a 26 the same as a normal 10?
Is a girls' 26" going to be a 10 also? I'm quite short so shortness in the leg is not a problem.

Does anyone have these? Are they reasonably stretchy, how high is the waist and how does the sizing come up?

I have absolutely no idea! I've tried to work it put, but every company seems to use different sizing methods! sorry! I resorted to going to the nearest tack shop and tying them on!

I might have to do the same. But then I'll end up buying them there, which will cost me more, because I feel bad. And DS will find something he wants and I'll get it because I'm a soft touch!

Sizing differs by make. I am forever buying dd jods that are too big.

You can never tell. I've got three pairs of jods which are supposed to be all the same size. One pair I've never even managed to get over my bum, one pair fits just right and the last ones fitted ds when he was about 11 Confused. I bought a pair in Aldi and got medium thinking that cheapo ones are bound to be cut small, and they are massive!

Pixel - I think its the other way around - the expensive ones that are cut small.......ariat are anyway

I have some Sherwood ones. I am generally a 12 and the Sherwood jods are a 28 - they are quite stretchy but I do find them a little tight, and quite low cut compared to my other jods muffin top here I come.

I have a different pair of 28's that are looser, another snug pair of 28's, and a pair of 30's.

Thanks. Low cut is good. I guess I'll be getting the 26 and the 28 and sending one back...

I don't know, I just buy children's ones because my legs are freakishly short relative to my actual height - I don't know how they translate into human sizes, roughly similar by waist size I think?

They should be waist sizes. I've just this minute put on brand new jods (going riding with DD, for the first time in a year, and the first time since she learnt to canter OMG help) - they're 30” and just a little bit snigger than the size 12 jeans I've just taken off. The jods are probably right, and the jeans a bit generous tbh.

I'm a 12 and wear a 28 in rugged up breeches

Local tack shop didn't have them. Tried on some others and I seem to be between a 26 and a 28. So have ordered both, and the 30 just in case. The 26 had the blue on the seat, the others had purple. Slightly prefer the former so hoping its the 26 that fits.

I don't think they are really waist sizes though. My waist is about 31/2 and I'm a 28-30 in jodhpurs.

They are both the same dress size but the adults ones are cut better for a woman's shape rather than a child's.

I'm a size 8 on the high street. My musto breeches are a 12, my musto snugs are a medium and my Gersemi breeches are a 10. I find that all sportswear is smaller than high street. My running tights are a medium.

I find the only answer is to try on loads of pairs because not only are the waist sizes all different, the leg lengths vary enormously as well. My Gersemi breeches are way short in the leg, Mustos are perfect. Musto snugs are the most peculiar shape of all - the waist band comes up to your tits and in my case I can't put the stirrup under my foot because they are so short - I only put up with them cos they're, well, snug!

I try not to buy jods or breeches until the old ones are in shreds cos its such a pig of a job.
