I'm so sad my share is ending

No-one in RL understands Sad
I'm ending my share, partly to do with the distance and partly because finances have taken a temporary (but expected) turn for the worse.
I made the decision and told Dhorses owner just after xmas, and she is lovely and completely understanding but I'm so sad that I won't have a horse in my life.
What am I supposed to do without him? He had his bad points, everyone does, but I just can't imagine not spending my days off there and not smelling like i've rolled in a muck heap.
I don't know if I'm going to take a break from riding or just go back to fortnightly lessons.
And I doubt I'll ever find another share, now I work random days a week and cannot commit to set days Sad
I only have til Wednesday, so i'm going to ride Mon and Wed, and then I have to say goodbye SadSad

Where abouts are you headless? Maybe you could find a local livery yard that wouldn't mind a bit of adhoc help?

oooh thats a good idea. I'm in east leicester, i think there is a yard nearby. That would help with the horsey cravings Wink

Shame you're not just a tiny bit closer or you'd be welcome to come ride mine, she needs to get out more. Am in east northants though so a tad too far

I must not be far from you.We only have ponies, but I'll let you know if I hear of anyone wanting a sharer. What height horse are you looking to ride and what do you like to do?

Do you ever look on Welland Valley Feeds website? It might be worth putting a small ad on their equestrian section.Every horsey person I know goes on there looking for or selling/loaning/sharing horses.

Thanks mirage, i shall have a look on there. I don't want to rush into another share too quickly, but theres no harm in putting the feelers out. Grin

I'm looking for something my side of leicestershire, dhorse was a 16.2 tb but i'm quite happy on a 15h cob or the such like. One downfall is that I weigh 12 stone so although i'd happily ride smaller a lot of owners want someone light weight.
I like to go on a relaxing Wink hack so need something that will hack out alone. I do some dressage work in the school (im not a bad rider but i still see myself as a novice Smile), with a bit of jumping. The kids rode dhorse on lead rein but I doubt i'll find another that is so trustworthy so i'll knock that off my list.

I'm happy to muck out etc n pay, its just because I work funny shifts, one week i'll be on nights, then a week off, then 2 days free then 3 days free, there no routine or predictability!

head my sharer doesn't do set days. Just saying there might be someone like me who can offer that flexibility.

Sorry to hear your share is ending.

Please don't think you won't find another one. I questioned whether I would ever find a share as I am only free at weekends and even then not every weekend. I am also a complete novice so was looking for a very straightforward ride.

However I put an ad online and a lady responded who has an older pony which lives out all year round, so if I am free then I can go and ride her but if not then it's not an issue for her to have a day off work, and she lives at a good livery yard so the staff will put hay in the field and check she is ok, her rugs have not slipped etc.

I just make a financial contribution which helps them to keep her in her old age (they have a new horse as well)

had my last ride today Sad
it was just a play around in the school, but it was lovely.

Hopefully it won't be long before I can fill the horsey shaped hole Smile

Some people just want their horses ridden without any payment. In fact, a girl at my yard was riding mine out for me and then informed me that other people pay her to ride their horses!

Get notices up everywhere, I am sure you will find something.

thanks exit i'm gonna give it a bit of a break for now and then start advertising after easter.
Whilst we r building I don't know if i'm gonna have time to ride, but at the same time i'm sure i shall need to get out the house Smile
Hoping I can find something nearby, we do have a few livery yards around so I might go visit a few see if anyone is looking for a hand.

My sharer doesn't pay me, and does random days. She does the same for a few other horses on my livery yard (she is a teenager so hangs around there all the time!) I personally don't mind her not paying, as she does all the jobs on her days, and looks after him when I'm go away .... Or giving birth! I'd pop up to a local livery and see if anyone needs any help. I personally wasnt looking for a sharer but when she approached me it just made sense.
