Just idly clicked on the Daily Mail on line, and saw headline about Horrific Abuse At Slaughterhouse next to pictures of our equine friends being, well, horrifically abused - clicked away very quickly but images seared on my brain.

And earlier I was on FB and someone who I must start to hide as she is always linking to hideous animal abuse, had a lovely picture of the mares they use to make premarvarin or whatever the HRT hormone is called that they can only get from the urine of pregnant mares.

I need happy horse thoughts............

Sad Sad Sad

I saw that too. The DM is terrible for running stories like that about tortured animals (pigs, dogs, sharks etc) and the images stick with me too Sad

For those horses, I guess they are dead now and any suffering has ended. And by being highlighted then maybe something will improve [hopeful face]

I read a book about a forensic pathologist who dealt with murders etc and the way they coped was to think that at least the persons suffering was over as they were dead now.

So that probably won't help you but I just wanted to post as I feel the same. When I see how some people treat other humans then it shouldn't really surprise me how they can treat animals so badly.

Thanks Katla I have been thinking that this evening, that at least those particular horses are not suffering anymore, but what about all the others? Who was the animal charity woman who said if all the animals could scream together with one voice, we would not be able to stand it?

I often just have to stick my fingers in my ears and scream inwardly.

Onward and upward eh? I just do the best I can for those animals in my care.

I saw that too...totally horrific. Made me feel sick to my stomach.
Just tried replaced the image with one of my horses in the snow, they're both lame, one permanently, the other is lami prone, but they've both got a loving home with us and get lots of scratches and cuddles and live at home with us. Think of all the lovely lucky horses and ponies that have good homes :)
