Ive recently moved yards, me and my friend found a cheap private yard which makes it easy to take kids and dogs, only prob is i have no school and hate hacking on my own, ive hardly ridden and since i moved there i thought id ride in field but it is really really boggy, im starting to really regret moving!, my friend who doesnt ride much loves it and weve alwayd done the horsey thing between the two of us, i know she would be really upset if i movex

Could you hire a school and hack to it or take the horse in a trailer? That's what I had to do until we put our menage in

I was in a situation like this once (but ended up staying at my yard where i have a school, instead of moving to one where theres no school). If i were you i would try and find out if there are any arenas you can hire out near your yard, and if not then if you like hacking you can be really adventurous and explore places you have never been to, this will be great fun for you AND your horse! If this fails (you dont like hacking, theres no arena to hire nearby) then you can always try and look for a well drained flat bit of land which is free to the public, then you can do your schooling. Hope this helps Smile

We have no school and it's a right pain in the winter and when the fields are too boggy to school in. We hack out and borrow a neighbour's school nearby. In addition we box to a local livery yard for lessons and again box to a very good equitation centre about 15 miles away where they arrange group lessons and school/course of jump hire. In the long run, in your circumstances, I'd say it's probably worth paying more to rent a yard with a school.

I'd be looking for somewhere else - with friend if possible, but without if not. You have your horse to ride - if there's nowhere to school, and you don't like hacking alone, you can only ride when your friend wants to, which from what you say is not often.

It may be cheap, but how much riding time are you losing out on? And there must be somewhere else that is OK with kids and dogs.
