The tack room

How much for a lead-rein share?

I would love to teach my boy (3 years) to ride and was thinking of putting a notice in local tack shop saying I was looking for a lead-rein pony to take him out on for one afternoon a week. I'm experienced with horses (used to have my own - some of you might guess what breed from my username!) so would be pleased to catch/groom/tack up etc and teach my son all aspects of horsemanship.

I was just wondering what sort of contribution owners would expect in this scenario?

Around here a lead rein share would be £20/week for two or three days so as you only want one afternoon I would hope it would be quite a bit less than that.

Good luck I hope you find what you are looking for!

Ha - didn't take long! I used to have a wonderful Welsh Sec D mare called Llanarth Carys (sadly now passed on). She was out of Llanarth Meredith AP Braint.

I didn't get my own horse til I was 15 (as my parents were non-horsy) but the most evocative memories from my childhood are of dreaming of having a pony, and even now, the particular light and smell of an summer's evening takes me back to those days of imagining a palamino pony trotting to me across the grass......I would love my son to have the chance to share the passion with me.

I'm in West Yorkshire, I've been on MN for a few years but I've never come across this section before, tut!
