Where are you in the country?

Have you approached any charity / rehoming centres.....they may welcome the interest.

We have the DPHT centre near us (they're very welcoming) and a pony sanctuary (again, very friendly). These are both within 20 mins of us. Maybe there's something like this near you?

welcome to come and play with ours, they are very good to handle, if mid Suffolk not too far from you?

If you are anywhere near Brighton I spotted this ad last week.

If you're anywhere near Chobham/Woking I have a fab pony who needs all the excercise she can get! We're on a private, friendly yard.

that's such a shame. If you lived nearer i would be happy for you to come and ride Tilly. You can't start them too young! :-)
How about putting an ad in the local paper? You might well get someone phone up and say come along and have a ride. I know i certainly would. If they could teach you how to tack up and get on with it as and when you please, it's good for everyone. Many ponies are ridden so infrequently it does them good.

Some stables start at 3 - my DS started then. Of course, it has resulted (as all the ladies here told me it would) in us owning a pony before he's 5

Where are you? I'm near Colchester. Have a very sweet Shetland wasting away in my paddock.

Our local farmshop has a lovely little shetland. Maybe look around for that sort of place so at least he can go and talk to horses?

I live in Warwickshire and have a nearly 3yr old who'd also love to 'help' look after ponies. was just wondering the other day how you go about finding people with ponies who are willing to share them a bit. other than cold calling the local stables?

You could try putting up a notice in your local tack shops/feed merchants/farm shops, or an ad in whatever your local free-ad paper is. Or you could become addicted to keep an eye on Horsemart which you can search by region.
