Anyone else as excited (and faintly intoxicated) as me that we've broken up for the summer?

I intend to sleep for the next week if possible!

We broke up on Friday. I got very excited Grin

I had a lovely day at the beach with dd2 yesterday (dd1 was at school for a 'gifted' summer school), then today, thunder and lightning with the possibility of flash floods. So much for summer then.

We finished today- the schools just over the county border finished on Friday. I'm going back in tomorrow to sort out the cupboard of doom!

We finished early today and I came home and had a nap. I remember the days when we'd finish early and go out for cocktails - too old and knackered now.

I'm spending tomorrow ferrying stuff from old school to new school. Had a lovely send off today (lots of tears!) and can't wait to get started on sorting out my new classroom. :-)

I've spent a few hours of Mon and Tues in my classroom tweaking a few things I wanted to improve for next year (hello Pinterest, goodbye life!).
I'm done now though - I need to finalise my plan for the first week back, but may do that with my partner teacher on the (solitary) training day in Sept.

We are officially becoming a new school on the first day back and expect much of the training day to be taken up with that though.

I'm doing the same as Queen and going back in to fight the encroaching disorder. To be fair, I haven't had a sort out in the office for a good few years and surely everything is electronic and I can just chuck all the paper stuff away?

Not a teacher but just wanted to share my nice story. DS2 last day of term today. He got in the car after school and we were chatting. Then he stopped talking. I looked over and he was sobbing. Big tears, and just inconsolable. When I asked what was wrong he just bawled and finally said 'it's because I am leaving Mr X's class'.

The shocking bit of this story is that he's 11. Mr X is brilliant teacher. I felt like crying myself.

Awww, SparklingSmile

DS caused mass hysteria last year at the Leavers Assembly when he broke down doing his reading. Surprised everyone, including me as he is usually a big gobby, cocky, too-cool-for-schooler!

Such a sweet story, Sparklingbrook.

DS is like that Tilly, but he really was distraught.

Luckily for DS it's a Middle School and his Year 7 classroom is next door to Mr X's Year 6 one next year, so DS will still see him. Grin

I think today is the best day of the year - first day of the summer holidays, with all that time to look forward to! Have spent the whole day with DS and the dog, playing games and having fun. Bliss!
