Wording on School report! Help!

I'm having a bit of a brain fuzz!
I'm trying to word a form tutor comment for one of my pupils - this pupils has potential to do well (Year 8 now) but disruptive behaviour and negative attitude to school is pulling this pupil down. He hates the place. His report is ok - I want to point out his good points but I also want to urge him to put this 'negative' phase behind him and to try and stay positive and do his best from now on. I believe in the kid, he's very down on all his teachers and thinks that they compare him to his older/brighter/well-behaved brother.
Help on wording please!!

X is an able pupil with a bright future at Y school. His subject teachers believe that he is good at Z and A and he has demonstrated his sense of humour or something else personality based in form time. At times X does not apply himself fully to school life and he can become frustrated with the rules and routines of the day. It will be important for him to remember that he will get much more out of his school experience if he is prepared to engage fully with all of the opportunities available. I wish him the best of luck as he moves into year 9.
