Mat pay and threshold

I am a teacher on M6. I am due to go on mat leave in Sept, but if I was still at school I would be going through my threshold application for ups1. I am already meeting a lot of the criteria but in our school you usually have a big pm obs by smt in the Autumn term which decides, along with results analysis etc.

So will I have to wait until I return to go through, or can I ask to be observed for it before I go? Really not sure how it works?

I was in exactly the same position and as l had proved l could go up as you said, l moved onto UPS when l was off. I would ask your Head as it is worth the extra money when you're on maternity leave Grin

Speak to your head. You should definitely try to go through before you leave, because I think they're only allowed to take the last year into account when putting you through so you could end up waiting two years (one year ML and another year proving you can meet threshold standards)
