Hi all,

I'm applying for a couple of TA positions one in a secure unit and one in a pupil referral unit. The pay shown is on an hourly basis and both jobs are 35 hrs per week term time only (pay for one is 8.50 per hour the other is around 10.00 per hour).

Just wondering will they apportion this over the whole year and pay you a set amount each month or do they not pay you in school holidays at all? Bit confused as most other positions are annual salaries.

Many thanks

TA/teaching/education jobs are usually paid all year round, the same amount each month.

In almost all counties now TA jobs are NOT paid all year round; but just for the hours you work.

You will get paid for the hours you work only; but this will be accumulated so that you are paid in 12 equal amounts over the 12 months of the year. In addition to the hourly rate, you will also get holiday pay - usually about 4 weeks' worth.

So in your case
35 hrs p/w @ £10 per hour = £350 per week.
Paid for 39 term time weeks + c.4 weeks paid hol = £350 x 43 = £15050

Paid monthly = c. £1250 per month (less tax, NI, etc.)

HTH.

NB Check the t&c for the secure unit, as their "term time" could be different to schools.

*Incogneetow) That's what I meant, rather than getting less money in the bank in months with a holiday in, and no money at all in August Grin

Holiday pay? I thought that because we worked term time only there wasn't any holiday pay? You've got me confused!

We do get paid for 4 weeks holiday, OYBBK (actually 4.26 weeks iirc) because we are entitled to holiday and we can't take it during term time.

I'm going to have to dig out my contract! I thought I was just paid pro rata but averaged out across the year.

We get the same amount each month but don't get paid for when we work apart from the holiday entitlement. I think that is fairly standard.
