All aboard the tax payer funded gravy train.

Let's shower this baby with riches and privilege and plaster her pictures all over the media. Because after all, she's a ROYAL baby.

And yet you care enough to start a thread.

Of course, it's all the baby's fault.

It's possible to care very much about the way public money is appropriated by a privileged family for no tangible public benefit.

Nope, it's not the baby's fault. It's the fault of the people who lap it all up.

Are you bored or lacking a life Beth as you seem to have nowt better to do today than try to get a rise out of mumsnetters?

Oh I'm sorry Southpaws, I didn't realise that only positive posts about the Royal Family are allowed. I thought we were living in a free and democratic society and not one where people are forced to join in the obligatory 'nation's joy' at such an event.

I don't think the Tindalls get any public money do they?

Well, congratulations to Zara. The birth of a healthy, wanted baby is always something to celebrate.

Neither her nor her husband receive any money from the Civil List. So her 'gravy train' is only taxpayer funded in the sense that anyone else's life is. She, and her husband, earn their own money and pay taxes like the rest of us.

Both Zara and Mike Tindall work. They are not funded from the public purse (very few royals are)

How lovely, congratulations to the Tindall family Smile

It's not a case of 'what's allowed' but I think a bit of basic accuracy is helpful.

They receive nothing from the Civil List, so no taxpayer funding. And although a new baby is a happy event, there's no 'joyful nation' guff that I've been able to detect.
