Just for fun.

Rules of the game:

  1. You buy a mug/teatowel/thimble or other Wills and Kate tacky memorabilia. Tackier the better. A possible 3 points up for grabs.

  1. You place said item in your house - can be anywhere you like but extra points awarded for amusing placement or placement amongst particularly tasteful and charming items. Maximum 3 points will be awarded for this.

  1. You await comments from your friends and relatives.

  1. Points are awarded for:

  • horrified comments - 2pts

  • surprised comments - 2pts

  • insincere comments such as, "Oh, how nice your Will and Kate thimble looks beside your Emma Bridgewater mugs" - 3 pts.

  • sincere comments - 5pts

  • offers to come around and have a look at Royal Memorabilia Collection - 25pts.

  • extra points may be awarded for making judge (ie. ME) laugh.

Post on this thread if you are in. And get a pic on your profile.

Now I have gone and posted this in Royal Family section, that everyone has hidden so no one wants to play.

Idiot.

I will join in, if I can find a mug here in the US. Am I allowed to put it in my office?

I will definitely win, as I will get mainly sincere comments - everybody in my office is sooooo excited about the wedding!

Also, if I can track one down, or get somebody to bring one over from the UK, I could then plan a small shrine to Britishness in the office. My intent would be to add a jar of Marmite, and anything else I can think of - a picture of the London Eye, Buckingham Palace. I could then issue invitations to colleagues to view the Royal memorabilia!

Will post a pic if I can pull it off.

I think that everyone has hidden the Royal topic. There are a few on Twitter playing though.

I'm here!

How about extra points if you display previous royal wedding tat souvenirs along the Widdletons... extra points for ones with marriages still intact Grin

Agreed. Well done.

Ok, so that is three of us. Good chance of winning the jackpot then. Plus the Twitterers.

Just had a hectic half hour searching for my Princess Anne / Mark Phillips commemorative egg cup (small chip on the rim). It will sit nicely next to my prince Andrew / Fergie t shirt.

If I put them in the window can I log the expressions of passers by?

Can I request dark chocolate for my prize?

(Tell you what - this beats cleaning the loo, which is what I should be doing!)

Marlin
You could put a webcam in the window, so you don't miss any.

Yes, your choice of chocolate.

DH has just emailed to say he is in Bruges, and they have even more chocolatier there than in Geneva Shock

Yes, but Swiss chocolate still beats them hands down.

Have you been to Tony's in Lausanne, on Rue de Bourg, for Paves Tony? They are chocolate wrapped slabs of cake and marzipan - and the cake is laced in alcohol! FABULOUS - all my favourite things in one place!

Can I have one if I win? AAAgh - now I am in the US, it will be too far, cause the need to stay refrigerated. Oh well, something to look forward to.

This weekend, I will start my quest to obtain my royal memorabilia. I may have to resort to making my own!

Do I get extra chocolate points if I take my truly shit mug to a Socialist meeting?

I currently have a Charles and Diana mug on my mantelpiece. There is a reason it is there and not in a cupboard somewhere.

How many points do I get?

MmeLindt · 20/11/2010 20:17

Extra points for taking your mug anywhere where you might not get out alive :o

Don't know Tonys, am on other side of lake from Lausanne but will take a trip sometime.

I'm a bit gobsmacked that we have a royal family topic.

When did that appear?

Who does the money go to when we buy the tat souvenirs? If it's the royals, count me out!

Report
MmeLindt · 20/11/2010 20:38

No, pretty sure that the money goes to the companies who make them. Unless you buy mug in Buckingham Palace gift shop.

Oh fun AND a chocolate bribery prize, this is my kind of thread. What if it's home made tack, like I buy a whole heap of Hello and OK magazine special WillKat editions and make my own collage and then put that on display? Would I get extra points for that?

Report
MmeLindt · 20/11/2010 20:49

Sounds FAB, homemade tack.

We need photos - on your profile or on Flickr or something.

I should enter my MIL who will be buying every magazine & paper that covers this, + any amount of Royal TatGrin

(Of course, the Middletons are virtually neighbours as she lives in the same County)
