The royal family

I'm actually quite tearful

about William and Kate's engagement.

Now, this may be because my mother has just phoned me and said, with a sigh, "well, that's it for you now, isn't it?" (disregarding that I don't actually know Prince William, I have a DP and although I have accidentally flashed my pants at Prince Charles, that is the closest I have come to sleeping with a member of the royal family)

Or, it may be that actually, after 8 years, I'm just really pleased that he finally came through and the BBC coverage of the interview was just really cute...and I'm slightly hormonal, they look so darned happy.

Or maybe I'm just jealous Grin

That they're getting married, I mean, not about Prince William

Oh I'd marry Prince Charles tomorrow. He's so restful. But then I'd marry Terry Wogan for the same reason. Perhaps I should re-examine what I look for in a man?

He wasn't very restful when he was cheating on Diana with the horse, was he?

Saved her the bother though, that's restful.

I think he is calming. All that wandering with hand behind his back and talking to plants and taking three hours to get a more than four words out.

I'd be calming and restful if I knew I'd never had to work a day in my life, but was also living off imaginable riches.

He's a bleedin' carbuncle.

I felt tearful too. For me, it was watching Prince Charles and Lady Diana announcing their engagement that did it. The BBC site is showing it alongside PW/KM's announcement.

I remember being so excited and thinking Diana was so beautiful.

It was a lifetime ago.

restful?

I've flipping heard it all now.

You should visit Poundsbury Sue.

He is a poppet and you love him really. You'd miss him if he left now, wouldn't you?

The riches would help calm me too, another plus Smile

What is that Thingumy? Home for the bewildered or something? Or a pound shop Grin?

Poundsbury is Charles's 'idyllic' village.

They finally got engaged??!!! You would have thought that it would warrent at least a small paragraph in the Australian papers. I might have to abandon all my principles and look on the Daily Mail website!

See, if you'd seen Charles in action on a polo field, you'd know the man has hidden depths.

I have no strong feelings but I must admit I shivered when I saw the ring. So many memories; it must be the most distinctive and most photographed piece of jewellery ever; such a lot of memories connected with it. gorgeous ring though, and Kate seems to like it.

Oh yes, the artist-y one? I could move in (had I any talent at all at anything).

Charles's seat on a horse has to be seen up close to be fully appreciated. He is nothing from the front but by god from behind he is truly blessed.

Hah, not just me then.
Sense I am alone with Sir Terry tho.

I really don't understand all this fascination with this, or Diana. All privileged people with not a care about you or me, who are nowhere near the real world.

Landmines? Well she had to find something to do with her time, didn't she? All a bit publicity seeking. It works though, I'll say that much.
