The litter tray

Feeling disappointed.

We were going to take on a third cat today, basically someone at work's daughter was moving & couldn't take her cat with her. We'd seen photos, had discussed his personality & agreed to take him. I'd even made him an appointment for a check up at our vets, and got a room ready for him to settle into.

Anyway, 1/2 an hour before he's due to get here I get a call to say she can take her cat after all so we're not having him. Obviously I'm pleased for the cat but I'd already started thinking of him as 'ours' and feel slightly sad. I'd put off telling our boys (human kind) until this evening that he was coming and now I'm praying that DS1 forgets all about it (DS2 isn't yet 2 so won't have understood anyway).

It must be disappointing, but if you've got room for another cat then the rescues are bursting at the seams with them! You could really make a poor unwanted cat happy - and hopefully your children too!

That was the thought that struck me right away - you've already mentally acquired a third cat and there's loads looking for a loving home.

I'd love to but I had a job persuading DH about this one, not sure I could do it again.

Just use the children to blackmail him .... they're so disappointed blah blah blah. I'm sure you can do it.

Oh yes please take another car from a rescue. If he has agreed to a cat in principle then surely it is irrelevant where said cat is obtained from. There are so many poor pets out there needing homes.

Cat not car! Bloody autocorrect. Although I'm sure a car rescue would be popular.

I was hoping DS1 would have forgotten about it but he was distraught this morning when I told him the cat wasn't coming.

DH assured me he'd have forgotten all about it by tonight but his first question when we got home was 'can we have 3 cats?' I'm amenable to another cat, it's DH we have to convince. Grin

He's caved once - it will come easier the second time. Wink

'After all, darling, it's for DS!'

PS - and the weekend is such an excellent time for visiting rescues.
