'Siamese' personality

I was talking with someone the other day and she was saying her cat has a Siamese personality, and it got me thinking- what is a Siamese personality?

She said her cat was haughty, and not very friendly to strangers, but Siamese can't all be like that, can they? Btw her cat isn't pure Siamese, but think she has a bit of one somewhere in her family.

I mean there must be friendly (humble?) Siamese cats out there?
Has anyone heard of a laid back, friendly Siamese?
Are they all standoffish? Or are they getting a bad rap!

The family did have a reasonably friendly Siamese once (dear lad wasn't very long lived) but a humble one? Never known it.

Mine's friendly...like über friendly, anyone that comes in is assumed to be visiting her and she'll make a beeline for them to graciously bestow her affection on them.

But humble? No, lol.

She's high maintenance as in she's demanding, but is otherwise laid back...good with children, mine and visiting ones, isn't overly put out by going to the vets and things of that nature.

By the way - when I said 'friendly', I meant to strangers. They're incredibly (almost overbearingly in some people's eyes) close to their people, particularly their Person. It's just that with strangers, you always get the feeling that in the cat's eyes, they're there simply to bestow adoration. I know that Seniorboy, if we have people in, will usually come to the half landing on the stairs to check what's going on and will sit 'just so' - every inch one of elegance - until he's bored and goes back up to his room.

(You sometimes get the feeling with Siamese that they spend their life thinking 'Is my good profile turned to the camera?' - but maybe that's just the ones I've had. There have been many though.)

Mine comes and sits on strangers demanding that they stroke her whether they want her to or not...I mean that's either friendly or obnoxious I suppose? lol

The Siamese I've known have all been friendly. One was walked on a leash and would present it to you for you to walk her if she really liked you.

I loved that cat.

Oh mummybearest, that cat sounds fantastic! If a bit dog like?!

Thanks for the replies, I see Siamese are particularly catish cats then!
Like some kind of distillate of Essence of Cat.
All the best bits I'm sure.

Issy that tabby of yours is fabulous. He looks so Regal.
