When to let my kitten outside

Hi all, after some advice please.
My kitten is 15 weeks old and desperate to get outside. He's crying at the windows and patio doors, he waits at the front door for us to get home and tries to run out everyday!
He's fully vaccinated and insured, he's booked in to be neutered in October. The vet said it's fine to let him out but I'm so worried about him running away or any harm coming to him. Our cul de sac is really quiet but we're close to a main road.

Had some family over yesterday and think one of the children played with the cat flap lock as he got out this morning! Just saw his tail go out the cat flap so luckily caught him!!

Any advice would be great, had cats as a child but we lived in a really rural area.

Technically it's fine to let him out now but I really wouldn't do it until he's been neutered. Neutered cats don't roam as much. I have always waited until my cats are 6 months old before letting them out, they are so daft and impulsive when they're little.

Oh and we need a picture of the little fluff ball!

Any chance you could get him neutered sooner, Just? Some vets and owners automatically think '6 months' but he's actually of an age for it very shortly if he's healthy and of a decent weight.

(Darling Oneago's litter brother unexpectedly sired a litter at 5 months old to the consternation of his breeder who clearly thought he was a quiet one.)

My vets made me wait until 5.5 months but he was fully dropped and trying to mate with his sister at 16 weeks so I think he already had a sex drive.

I wouldn't let him out unattended, if he wanders off and under a car you'll never forgive yourself.
