DCat (17) has kidney problems and the vet has recommended switching to RC Renal. What's the best way of buying this? I can buy it through the vet, they also said if I bought it on line I would need a prescription from them.

They gave me a trial pouch, and DCat ate it all up. Mind you, they'd given her a steroid shot, so could be her appetite was in overdrive.

Apart from this, she is well, considering. She has arthritis, so we have come to an arrangement that if she wants to go downstairs, she will press the lift button meiow, and I will carry her down like a human cat-stair-lift. She purrs loudly at me doing her bidding being under the paw

It is a prescription food, but in the UK you can buy it on line without a prescription as it is not a drug. They may ask you if it has been recommended by a vet.
I have never ever written a prescription for food and know loads of my clients buy this food on line. I think your practice told you a little porky pie.

I just checked a couple of websites none ask for a prescription.
