We have had Alfie since he was 6 weeks old, in the last 18 months alot of things have changed in the house, I have gone back to work the kids have gone to work and college, He was always very well behaved and never messed anywhere apart from his litter tray,
He has in the last year been urinating on anything that has been left on the floor, I have ruled out anything medicaly wrong as he uses his litter tray during the day, he is eating and washing as normal, for the last 6 months I have been using a feliway diffuser and it seemed to stop so it cannot be because he is unwell, I think he just misses having someone here all the time.
Over the last month he has pee'd on the cushions on the sofa so i got rid of them and sprayed the sofa and chairs with feliway spray, he still is peeing on the sofa at night when we are all asleep and in the last week he has poo'ed, once on the sofa and once on the the seat of one of the armchairs,
My house is very open plan ( Housing association) cannot afford to make major alterations to block certain areas off and would need their permission to add doors as have arches at the moment
Think I will have to try to confine him to the kitchen overnight using 2 stairgates one on top of the other to restrisct this to the kitchen, I have told a couple of people that this is my plan and they told me that I am being cruel and restricting him to just the kitchen at night when he has had full run of the house all his life is animal abuse,
Am I wrong?
