my 6 year old female cat is getting spayed tomorrow. She's an indoor cat because she refuses to go out. shes gentle and timid and absolutly HATES most strangers. She's not vicious. she just hisses at people then runs away Sad

I've had cats all my life and never been worried about the vets. but I couldn't sleep last night worrying!!

Any tips to help keep her calm? I've left the carrier out so she can inspect it and put her fav blanket in it.

She'll be fine just try not to worry about it or she'll pick up on it.

Not a lot you can do really. She should be fine.

(If she really hates the vets, remember to get the practice to give her a good once over while she's out for the count - and maybe cut her claws properly as well.)

Best of luck.

She'll be fine, really. You've done well for her not to go crazy before now though. Unspayed indoor females generally go completely bonkers for want of a better word. It's the hormones and the frustration about not being able to do anything about it. Quite often it makes them extremely aggressive - you wouldn't believe some of the cases I've seen.

Anyway she's being done now. She'll be fine and she will feel much, much better for it.

You need tissues in the car for when you cry all the way home. I sobbed driving away from my cat.

Cat was ok, I was a wreck all day.

When she comes off heat she suddenly seems depressed and its so sad.

Avoided it for so long now but I know it needs doing, for her sake.

I bet I cry as well. Ugh I'm dreading it so much!
