This time last year I would not of thought I would ever own a Cat what with been petrified of them since forever Blush
Now I have 6 crazy cat lady 3 and would not be without them and often find myself looking for another one two .
I have to admit my 3 eldest are extremely laid back and were never really kittens behaviour wise so their was no climbing curtains etc which I was looking forward to.
The past two weeks since the kittens were born I have spent many an hour just sat watching them as they are just the cutest and so amazing , within the past two days they have all opened their eyes and started wandering out of their bed though they never get far as mum soon takes them back .
This is also the first summer my eldest have been allowed out and they are loving the sun to the point of when it rains they sit crying until it stops but I must admit that it is a lovely thing to watch them all chasing butterflies & hunting frogs in the garden Grin
While I have wrote this my little ball of fluff Ollie has been fast asleep on my shoulder Grin
I don't know why i wrote this or expect anybody to say anything though i would love to hear about your cats .
I never thought i could be so proud of anything other than my Ds

I never considered myself to be a cat person either! I always liked all animals, but always thought I prefered dogs ... and rats .... And now I've got 20 odd of them. I really don't know how it happened:)

crazy please tell me how you got over your fear of cats!
The dcs would love a pet. For me the best pet would be a cat. But MIL is petrified of them, and has said to the dcs that she will not visit if we have a cat. We live abroad and she visits a few times a year, its important that she visits. Is there something we can do about her petrifiedness? Your post gave me hope!

barnet I just made the decision to get one this time last year and it took a few weeks I finally realised that my cat was not going to kill me and their was nothing to be scared of Grin
Luckily enough though all my Cats are just really quiet and never went through the kitten stage they just prefer to laze in the sun and chase butterflies they are also very friendly but very protective when ot comes to their home and garden , I think it might be the breed as I have 2 Maine Coon Cross & 1 BSH cross .
Their are some breeds like mine that are quieter than say Bengal Cats as my mum has one and he still loves to climb the curtains and help wash the pots Grin
Anyway I'll stop rambling , I was beyond scared of Cats to the point where if i went to somebodies house and they had any they would make sure the cat was out else i would have Panic Attacks etc Confused
Hope i have been of some use , I wouldn't be without mine now and still haven't a clue why i were scared of them Smile

I love cats. Cats are amazing. Mine is sprawled on my lap right now making it very difficult to type but I love the feeling of his purring against my tummy. I'm very Envy about how many you have, though. We've only got two because one is a terrible bully and would beat up any newcomers relentlessly.

Btw, well done for getting over your phobia! I've been working on my arachnophobia for a couple of years now and it's getting there but I certainly won't be getting a pet tarantula any time soon :)

I luff my girl Smile

Was never an avid animal lover. Respected them at a distance, but didn't want hairs and smells

Then I got my Poppy Smile
And I really don't know why I wasted so much time.
She is clever and funny. Cute and loving. Bossy and submissive.

I will only have the one, though, because I don't think I want to take any of my love away from my Pops.

What a lovely post :)

I have a wonderful 19 year old tom. He really is the light of my life. I spent 3 nights away from him this week, and we spent half an hour cuddling on the bed this morning. He's in great nick for 19, but sleeps much more than he used to.

I was brought up with dogs. Many, many dogs! So just assumed when I 'grew up' I would have dogs too.

But i bought a cat and have never, ever regretted it.

No panting dog breath, walks in all weathers and I like having to earn any love that is thrown my way!

I have a cream bsh and he is truly stunning. If a bit snooty....

My DS used to be terrified of all animals but I now have 2 cats (one is a 'fostered' cat) and 4 kittens.
He loves them and even asks if he can take one of them to sleep in his bedroom with him! No idea what the turnaround was.....

I love my cats and I'm already devastated about the kittens going to their new homes in 6/7 weeks. They're 'mine'!! Sad

I was always a dog person and was quite cold towards cats until we got our lovely Thomas Cat. He was such a sweet, adorable little boy and I very quickly became a crazy cat lady. We lost him this time last week and have already adopted another two rescues - I can't ever imagine life without a cat or two now.
