The litter tray

Won't be economising on litter again!

Ohhhh yuck!!
I usually get the £4 a bag stuff from Tesco but this week, in a bid to economise, I bought Morrison's £1.50 stuff. Oh dear God! Went to change it to day and found it was basically soil. Obviously with my kitten's urine it had all moulded together into a lump of clay and the SMELL. It had only been in the tray for two days but smelled like it had been unchanged for a week!
Can safely say a £4 bag of litter is well worth the money...

You need chick crumb.

I've got the reddish grainy stuff from Tesco this week.... it tracks ALL over the house. We get in from work and have to hoover straight away - and brush down the back of the sofa where the cat has taken a sprinkling of the stuff for good measure.

Ick.
He needs to learn to wipe his paws.

2 kids I've tried that red stuff too, and my kitchen floor is still stained! Tesco value is ok but a bit dusty, I found. Anyone tried the wood chip stuff?
Fluffy - honestly? As in the crumbs chicks eat??

Yep. You can flush it too.

I was spending £20 a month. Only spent £13 since the new year.

Never heard of chick crumb. What is it?

It's little crumbs of ground maize. It clumps well and you don't get muddy paw prints everywhere.

I second the chick crumb, clumps well and masks the smell really well. We got a twenty kilo bag for fifteen quid and it's going to last ages.

My husband bought the wrong litter recently.

Cat still poos in litter tray, but now wees on the floor in front of it!!

Vote for chick crumb too. It's gone up in recent years but is still the cheapest way. You might find it in your local farmshop or if you search Farmgate they will tell you your nearest stockists. Buy a big sack and it will last months.

I bought a shredded soft paper litter for our fussy cat, and came down in the morning to find her asleep in the litter tray.

And there was a pile of crap on the toilet mat with a toothpaste cap balanced on top of it... maybe she thought if she tidied the floor it would make up for pooping on the mat?!

Well the pile on the toilet mat? I guess we've most of us been there after doing something wrong like buying a new litter.

It's the toothpaste cap balanced on top that's intriguing me. Has she shown any other signs of artistic or dramatic leanings?

We use the wood pellets- expensive but a big £13 bag lasts us all month...think Home Bargains sometimes has a wood pellet one too but not tried it.

No Smell no clumping and no trail through the house once puss has been in it.
Only need to change litter twice a week and I am very sensitive to smells....none with this stuff.

Right. Wasn't able to get chick crumb today but have bought wood pellets for pretty much the same price as that appalling red stuff. I like it better already.
