i have a 7yr old slightly dippy persian who is an indoor/outdoor cat. and not the best at grooming herself either..because of this she does get tattier than i can always handle so we get her clipped/shaved a couple of times a year. shes been to vets this week and shaved, quite short this time as shes been playing out in snow and whatnot so she'd got a bit matted underneath.
as its been freezing ive kept the catflap shut so she can't just dissapear. but last night she was howling and pratting about so at 3am i shut her in kitchen so she didnt wake the kids up (DH working away and a toddler & baby up at 3am is more than i can handle!). she had blankets and warm cat bed, food, water etc but this wasnt enough and at some point has broken out. Sad
i was out in garden hunting for her at 7am and found her curled up frozen under a bush. i brought her in and wrapped her up but she was howling so shes gone to vets. pretty sure she has hypothermia. Sad
feel rotten now.. Sad

stoopid bloody cat Angry

How did she get out? Does your cat flap have working close controls? And why could she not get in again? You'll need to work it out in case she has to be kept in for illness.

I'm also assuming you leave a tray down for her when you keep her in?

Don't feel rotten - just wait and see what the vet's view is.

My Persian broke through a cat flap that my FIL had tapped up with gaffer tape :rollseye: if they want to get out they will.

What has the vet said?

I have a couple of Persians who don't allow me to brush them and don't look after themselves, had one clipped a couple of weeks ago and she hasn't moved from the radiator since : they make you feel bad either way!

Gaffer tape isn't going to do it, Karbea. Not for a determined cat.

No I know we learnt that!

He is allowed out now, and hardly bothers!
