my cat has a horrible disgusting pea sized tick.
I have given him spot on this morning but it is still attached this evening. Do I need to manually remove it? (pleease say no, I can cope with removing the little ones but the big ones are revolting)

if you cant bear taking the tick off yourself ring your vets and they will probably do it for you, and ask them to sell you a tick remover its like a pair of tweezers that clamp together, you squeeze twist and pull easy to do and not that yucky put tick in loo paper and flush, horrid luittle feckers they are

Most of the spot ons take between 24 and 48 hours to kill the tick after they have been applied.
I have moved to using Seresto collar on my cats because it repels ticks and prevents them from attaching. It lasts 8 months so no need to thick about it and bizarrely the posh arrogant boy who will slice you to death whilst you apply spot on doesn't mind the collar so I am safer!!!
