Arrgghh, bloody cat flap!

What am I doing wrong?

After reading great reviews on Amazon I bought the sureflap cat flap that only lets your chipped cat in. I had to get our builder to put it in the door as we are useless with DIY. He put it with the battery compartment and switch on the OUTSIDE - is that right?

I then read the manual to set it up and had a lot of trouble getting my cat to go through to 'set' it. So I left it for a while (few months) and she continued going in and out through windows and doors. However I now need her to use it so I can put her in one room when we go out and start using our burgler alarm again.

So I tried again today, pressed the memory button and doesn't seem to be working. Could the batteries have gone? All in all, it seems like a right faff. Would I have better off with a normal cat flap?

Really need to sort this as dh is not happy about not using the alarm!

My mum has one of those, I am pretty sure her battery compartment and switch are on the inside, not sure about setting it.

Battery compartment and switch are on the inside for us. Im not sure the batteries would have gone so quickly if they are new, ours lasted over a year before we had to change them.

Could you change it round, so the battery and switch are on the inside- that might be the problem. We had to 'scan' ours through, starting on the inside, let them go through to the outside, and it scanned them fine. We love ours, stops all the other neighbourhood cats coming in.
