If you use chick crumb as cat litter where do you buy it from?

I tried my local animal feeds place and they didnt have it and the online places charge so much that it isnt worth the bother.

Sad

Ooh what's that? Is it usually cheaper to buy than cat litter? (assuming you can find a place that sells it)

Sorry not helping with the original question thereGrin

I'm led to believe it's a crumb chicks eat that can be used as cat litter as it clumps well and absorbs smells.

I know someone on here uses it.

Both my local animal feeds place sell chick crumb. They're very much farm animal rather than a pet place. Loads of sheep feed, etc. I've never used it as cat litter.

Hmmm interesting, thanksSmile. Not sure where I'd buy it either though although come to think of it lots of people keep chickens nowadays so it must be available.

Try contacting them for stockists?

In fact they have a stockist locator on their website.

Mm I would be interested to hear how it performs as I keep both hens and cats (hens safely in own coop, much to cats dismay Grin) so it would be handy to have something I can use as back up feed for the girls if I run out of their pellets Grin

I was right by one of the stockists on Thursday, I could have popped in if I'd known it was so hard to buy online. Angry

Sainsburys ultra clumping litter is rubbish.

Dreadful stuff. I bought it once and never again. Their ordinary stuff (the 8l for £2.69 one) is, however, quite good. Seniorboy likes it fine.

Equine suppliers often sell chicken feed.

Brilliant stuff, we buy if for £10 for 20 kilos from local farm suppliers called Gatelys in W Sussex. My cats (Bengal boys) won't use anything else - found that out the hard way!
