The litter tray

Cat pooing inside

We have a young cat (nearly 5 months) that we got from the cat rescue when she was 6 weeks old - not ideal, but her mother was dead. She was house trained when we got her and all was fine until we changed her food from baby cat food to kitten food. She got diarrea and started pooing outside the litter tray. We have now found a type of food that doesn't give her the runs, but the pooing on the floor continues.
She pees in the litter tray and then poos somewhere else, often right next to the litter tray or under the kitchen table.

Her stomach has been OK for about 2 weeks now. How do we get her to poo in the litter tray again.

(We also have 2 other cats - 5, 5 months that get s on well with the little one and 1,5 years that hates both the younger ones)

How many trays do you have in total? For all the cats?

What food do you now use Calendula (urgent request!)- we have similar problems. Runny tummies seem to be endemic in kittens?

We have got extra trays and kitten poops in one and piddles in the other - depending on which one is cleanest ...... BUT never covers up the (runny) poop and walks in it and drags it through the house

Sorry I didn't get back.

The food that we use now is Royal Canin kitten pellets. She was started on Royal Canin baby cat pellets and was fine with OK poo and using the litter tray until we started her on Specific (from the vet).

Back to Royal Canin and no more runny tummy, but still pooing on the floor.

We only have one tray. The oldest cat goes outside.

How do you keep trays separate so that only one cat can use it.

We use litter for multiple cats and clean it daily.

We had terrible trouble with our kittens when we had them. Only when I changed to a cheaper cat litter did they use the tray...I don't think they like the feel of it on their feet!

WE have found the same calendula - RC seems to be best. Of course, with ours, wet pouches are the preferred - kitty has no interest in any dry food... even eats around any I surreptitiously put in with the pouch.
