The litter tray

Any idea what could be wrong with my kitten...?

She's 7 months old and healthy in every way...

Except she has had a couple of strange episodes where she suddenly starts froffing at the mouth and panting. Her lips go blue-ish and she drools loads but isn't actually sick. It only lasts for about 5 minutes and then she stops drooling and seems to return to normal although is a little quiet.

When I spoke to the vet about this she just said to bring her in when it's actually happening. (Haven't been able to as both times it's been late in the evening.)

Any ideas? Tia

It sounds to me like some sort of minor seizure (particularly being 'a little quiet' afterwards.) As to the cause......

Does she go outside ? And if so, is it possible she could be getting in contact with something which is potentially bad for cats - ie what sort of plants do you have outside if you have a garden.

Has your vet proposed doing any blood work?

If you struggle to get her to the vet when it's happening (and if you have one that can do it) can you record it happening on your phone, then play it back to the vet?

Thanks for the replies.

She doesn't go outside yet and when it happened yesterday she was fast asleep on my bed.

Good idea about recording it happening on my phone, I'll definitely do that next time. The vet didn't seem overly concerned when I mentioned it to her and said it might be a hair ball. (I'm pretty sure it's not that though.)

Will take her to the vets on Monday if it happens again with video evidence!

Thanks again.
