Reassurance for a pregnant lady :)

I know I am being a bit PFB about my cat Wink But I am also driven crazy by pregnancy hormones at 32 weeks and need reassurance it's all OK, or at least tell me to stop being silly!

I'm leaving at 3pm today. A cat sitter is coming twice tomorrow and once on Sunday, and I'll be back Sunday evening. Our cat hates being locked inside and regularly goes out 6am-7pm, back for a food pit stop, then back out again - sometimes she won't come back until the next morning.

We don't have a cat flap so I've agreed with the cat lady to come on Saturday morning, feed and play with her, and come back Saturday evening for the same. Sunday morning - feed and play, and then she can be let out for the day. I know she'll be going crazy inside. It's also going to be very hot this weekend - I'm leaving two windows open as they aren't burglary risks. I've told the cat lady if my cat runs out on Saturday morning or evening, it's not the end of the world - it's no longer than she would willingly be out - and cat lady will be back within 12 hours anyway.

But I'm so worried! Maybe I should let her stay out today/tonight, knowing cat lady will be visiting twice tomorrow? Maybe she'd be happier like that? Make sure she gets a good food/drink before I go? She's currently outside and might not even come back when I need to go anyway. Equally she's been inside for a similar time before, and been OK. Am I a bad cat owner?? I feel really bad. DH is very Hmm about it.

We leave our cat in when we go away, becuase I can't trust that he will come back into the house with a stranger (and by stranger I mean my NDNs who he sees everyday!!).

As long as there are some windows open and someone comes twice a day she will be fine. Relax!

Leave a scratch post and some little toys so she has something to do if she wants to play, but she will most likely sleep most of the time.

You probably could leave her out but I never would. She will be safest in the house, I would feel awful if there is a bad storm and she was cold and wet, or God forbid hurt and couldn't get in to be taken care of. So I always err on the side of caution and a slightly annoyed cat!

I'm sure she'll be fine. We have a catflap and our cat comes and goes as he pleases. We moved 6 months ago and make regular trips back to visit family so are away for long weekends every month or so.
We've not had any trouble with ours dissapearing - i think as long as food is put out, you're better off keeping as much to the normal routine as possible.

She will be fine, but I know exactly how you feel. We've gone away a few times now since having ours, mostly for long weekends but recently 10 days. We keep them in because one in particular could not be relied upon to come back in for a stranger. I got really Sad and guilty thinking of them being inside and bored for that long, especially one who particularly loves going out.

Yes, they weren't as happy as if everything had been their normal routine, but we had a live in cat sitter. I tell myself they have the run of the house and way more space and familiarity than going to a cattery.

Thanks both :) It would be so much easier if we had a cat flap, I'd have no worries then. I think she will be ok, a little got maybe. I called the cat lady tom say just let her out tomorrow and then come back tomorrow eve.

Relax, Orenishii!!
