Cats & their noises...

never knew a cat was capable of making so many noises. my cat makes loads of different noises/sounds, sometimes 2 or 3 at the same (sort of) time. i've never heard a cat make the noises before that she makes. just wondered who else has a cat that does this/similar?

yes! Mine has a language!
Brrup - hello, where have you been? Also used when hopping up on to a lap.
Meow - feed me, let me out, get up there is cat poo to deal with
Howl - when we ignore the let me out meow, more persistant. Also used when sHe's in her cat box
Owoohw - where have you gone? You're in the house somewhere (if we reply she comes and finds us)
Squeak - put me down I don't want to be picked up
LOUD meow - used when squaring up to other cats in the garden
Think that's everything she uses?

DH had a cat that talked. He was found as a kitten and had no tail and looks just like a ginger and white manx. DH also had siamese who are also very vocal but i never met them. You could have a conversation with DH cat, say something silly and he would answer you back. My sis has a cat that does that as well.

Our cat has the same language as goldrinker although the Brrup is very polite and always sounds like she is saying thank you for opening the door.

Just upset the cat by playing talking cats on youtube. She is sitting staring at the loud speaker.

My cat does the 'chirrup' thing as she runs up the stairs...so it sounds all shakey Grin

my dd & i LOVE watching cat videos on you tube. there is one we especially like with a cat going meow meow meow over and over in a crazy way. we like to play it loud to confuse our cat, she goes crazy as she thinks another cat is in the house or she sits on the table watching the videos with us with interest :) our cat often sounds like a pidgeon..

Sad my cats are silent. Seriously, they only even meow just before they're sick! Other than that...

We have a bengal, we have different noises for;

Hello, Row.

Want to go out, Miaow, miaow, miaaooooow.

Cant believe you havent opened the door yet. Annoyed tone miaow.

Where are you? Arooow

What did you want? Brrr

I'm going to be sick, ru,ru,ru,row. We call it jazz talking.

You cow I was in the cattery for a WEEK. Series of Miaow, rooow, ruuuur, etc very long and goes on all afternoon, even when he's gone out he comes back to shout at us.

Why is the bedroom door shut in the afternoon? plaintive miaow that gets weaker and weaker and more spaced apart until in my head "cat perishes while owners romp" flashes up as the headline in the local paper and we decide the moods gone anyway, only to let him and he just wants to go on the bed.
