Collected cat from cattery this morning

Been away for a week. Cat been in cattery (the one we always use) since a week last Friday and DH collected him from the cattery this morning. He had a check up and immunisations/boosters at vet shortly before he went into the cattery. Vet said he was very healthy, particularly given his age (14), although he is a little bit overweight.

Cattery man has told DH that he thinks we should take the cat to the vet as he has been drinking a large of amount of water whilst he's been in the cattery. He also said that there was a sprinkling of blood in his last poo. DH will take cat to the vets this week.

Since he's been home, he's been very very vocal which is quite unusual for him. He's got some biscuits and water and has had half a tin of food so far. He's eaten all the food (gave it him in two lots) and has had a few biscuits. He's had some water but doesn't seem to be a massive amount. It's a different kind of miaow to his usual "oi stupid person, feed me" miaow.

This is going to sound stupid but I can't remember if he's usually this vocal and miaowy when we get him home from the cattery. Does anyone else's cat react like this and what's the significance of the water drinking and blood in poo?

Thanks.

My cat who is a big softie, with the smallest meep possible Grin, is always much louder after going to the cattery.

Re the blood and water drinking here.

Thanks for that Heath Smile. His miaowing seems to have settled a bit this morning and appears to be more along the lines of "did you not hear me? I said feed me".

DH will take him to the vet this week after I remind him 15 times.
