The litter tray

my kitten will not eat kitten food

She prefers the whatever goes in the bowl of our adult cat. I've tried feeding in different rooms and / or at different times. Nothing works. She rejects her lovely kitten food (and I've tried 3 wet brands and 4 dry with the same results) and hoovers up any of the Felix adult stuff left in the other bowl. If they are in the same room she shoots across to feed from his bowl t the same time he does.

Convinced older cat is losing weight and kitten not getting appropriate nutrition.

Help.... please....

I wouldn't worry too much, kitten food is a very new invention and apart from the smaller chunks, not really very different. I don't think your kitten will come to any harm eating older cat's food (except for occasional vomiting incidents when they gobble too much at once IME).

My kitten is exactly the same first of all he refused the cat milk and then all the different brands of kitten food, much prefers the big cat food, dog food, mice, anything but really. However, he's off to the vet tomorrow because although he's looking very solid on the amount he's eating and he doesn't appear to be sickening for anything he has had the runs for the last six weeks.

He was hand reared as a baby so I'm wondering if the adult food is too rich for him, saying that if he won't eat kitten food I don't know what I'm going to do with him.

Dont blame it, a lot of tinned food is maize or cereal based. There obligate carnivores ffs.

Our cat gets the runs on tinned food. Feeding pouches solved it.

My cat and and kitten (not related) shared a dish from the start - their choice. Kitten, now 5 months, is thriving. Think that kitten food is the same but in smaller chunks. Mash up the cat food a bit with a fork. Is your older cat quite well or is there something actually wrong with him/her?

All my cats ate adult food as they were phenomenally fussy. Seem fat and glossy now! What did kittens eat before kitten food was invented? I would add a little boiled chicken or bland boiled fish occasionally though...

My kitten did the same, I checked the ingredients and nutritional info on the side of the packet - kitten food seems to be slightly higher in calories but otherwise the same.

She's one now, she looks fine to me, lol. She's a bit on the dinky side, but as her mother's even smaller (a neighbour's cat) I don't think it's anything to do with her food.
