I need a tent!

I've agreed to go on a short camping trip in August, and haven't done so since just after I left school (in what was then probably a thirty year old tent).

Does anyone have any recommendations for an inexpensive (and preferably easy to put up) tent? Are these pop up tents worth looking at? Will be travelling by car.

We went to a local specialist store yesterday for some advice as we are also looking for a family tent. His advice was: if you are looking to use a tent for more than a night or two, it is wise to choose one that says it is for twice as many people. so a 4 man tent, would be a reasonable environment for 2 people over a week's holiday etc. Also check the waterproofing numbers to make sure you won't get any nasty surprises.

We camped a couple of nights last year in a cheapie tent, and would rather not have a tent that you can't stand up in! Especially if you have poor weather.

I was just about to post a thread to ask if anyone has a Eurohike Buttermere 800 tent, I am interested in reviews! I am awkward tho! I want a family tent, with bedrooms either end, and good weather proofing.

Pop up tents are fantastic. If it's just you get a 2 person one. You can put it up then drink beer and watch your fellow campers struggle. I've slept in them in all sorts of weathers without problems.
