Walking boots.

I am in need of a new pair of boots. I am aiming to buy synthetic boots and I am desperately trying to find a pair that live up to their waterproof label.
I am a size 9, so will probably end up with mens shoes which is probably a good thing because it gives me more choice.
I like to stomp through a fair amount of mud and puddles and I am fed up with wet feet even in expensive boots. For ethical reasons I would prefer to avoid leather.
Any recommendations gratefully received :)

I have yet to find a pair of synthetic boots which stay completely dry - for me it's leather all the way.

Yes they are £££s to buy but looked after properly will last for years - my current pair are 3 years old and still going strong ( and I walk miles every week)

I do have a pair of synthetic boots but only for the height of summer.

Sorry not much help I know Smile

Thanks whojamaflip, I think I already knew the answer before I asked the question but hoped that there was a secret pair of boots out there that were being kept from me :)
Thanks for your reply. Happy walking.

I've had Karrimors for about 8 years now! I've walked and ridden miles in them, even got the same laces in! They are waterproof, they're really great.

You could go for waterproof socks instead eg sealskinz.

I will probably get told off by 'proper' walkers but I love walking in welly boots, one of the reasons being that I can merrily splosh through mud & puddles and stay dry. I can easily and comfortably walk 10 miles or more in them. They are big green farmer's wellies, not fashion things.

The only true waterproof walking boots I have had are leather brashers.

Amazingly light and comfortable too.

But leather
