Jas spends a lot of time rolling around in the paddling pool, then running indoors and shaking everywhere. We love that. Stanley is mostly sleeping. I'm walking them both before 9am and then at around 8pm. Neither of them want to be out too long.

Mine has been in his pool this morning ( and his sandpit ) , he is now baking himself in the conservatory ! We are also walking early and late because stupid dog feels the need to run everywhere then looks like he's going to collapse . Sensible rabbit has dug himself a hollow under a shady bush in his pen and just lies in that all day .

We did an evening walk last night.

She kept pestering me this morning so we walked up to the woods for shade. She then came home got in the paddling and has folloped under the kitchen table.

We do put bits of chopped apple (floats) and chopped carrot (sinks) in the paddling pool for her. It is entertaining for all concerned.

Both Doodle and Staffy are upside down under a large moving fan.

I let the Doodle snorkle for ice cubes in the water bowls.
Both refuse walks in the heat.

My two (collies) are just lazing about in the shade (both under the picnic table yesterday). The puppy keeps bringing the ball and looking hopeful but really doesn't want to run after it.

It's sweltering here in the midlands. Weather report says 26C, but I think that's woefully under the actual temperature. I think the hounds are going to stay comatose until this evening

We did an evening river walk last night so he could go for a swim.

I had the hosepipe out earlier as had to wash somethingin the garden and he was straight in that. I have walked him to my mums where we are sat in her huge garden but he is mooching in the shade rather than bombing about. I don't think we are going to even do one of our usual 'big' walks today.

I won't be taking Jas on a long walk this evening. Fifteen minutes on lead around the block will probably be enough. He has the unfortunate spaniel trait of not knowing when to stop, so if I allow him to charge about like a nutter he'll probably give himself heat stroke. Just doused him under the cold hose because the pool has warmed up Shock The pup has been out once today, so I think I'll keep him at home now. He has black curly fur and is feeling it today.

We took dog to a lovely park today where he had half an hour playing with other dogs in a river. We also had a bowl in car with water for him to drink

I was supposed to be taking Jas to see a behaviourist at 3.30 today. I cancelled, and she agreed. It involves a thirty minute car trip, and it was 32C in our car in the shade. He doesn't really like the car anyway, so I didn't see the point in stressing him out, half baking him, and then taking him to a new place with other dogs. He'd have exploded with the trauma.

Dog Basset is now in a zen like state under my feet .
No barking for his dinner and counter surfing . Just loud snores .

nice walk later planned when he wakes up and in the cool air .

Your love for your dogs Chickens is so lovely and educational also to read . I am the most wibbly scaredy cat on the planet until I see dogs in hot cars . Fortunately police have arrived very quickly . But still despite it being common knowledge we see dogs left in cars in this heat . Got Morrisons to put call out today for one dog looking unhappy
Opening a window doesnt stop your dog dying mate .

My Goldie has barely moved from inside today. I took him out earlier and was throwing toys for him but he refused to bring them back which I took as a hint. Don't think he's going to get walked tonight, I'm 36 weeks pregnant and DH has very bad hayfever so there's a chance it would kill us, never mind the dog.

GingerDog loves the sun and has to be forcibly dragged into the shade (I cannot convey to you how much he loved the South of France :o)
The LandShark is not as keen so will retire to the shade if it all gets too much, but they both cope so much better than other dogs I know.
On the plus side I did the Tesco exchange thing and got 5 camping chairs for £15 of vouchers. GingerDog has always adored his camping chair (which eventually got so rotten we had to bin it) and today the LandShark has slept on his for the first time. Goodness knows what people think, two adults, one child and two dogs- 5 identical camping chairs Hmm :o

Flynn has just been wandering around the house looking for cool spots, he approves of my moving our bed in front of the window so has spent quite a bit of time on there.

Gave him a hose down as he was looking baked, had the opposite effect as he ran around like a loon trying to dry off he is now snoring on the floor.

Panting and moping all all day. Our cockerpoo has discovered that the tiled floor in the downstairs loo is cool and dark.

Feel so sorry for them Sad

SuperDog doesn't seem to understand the difference between sun and shade. We bought her a paddling pool last year but she dipped a paw in it and backed away. She likes to bake slowly in the sun and I think it'd have to be about fifty degrees to stop her bounding about like a Mexican jumping bean as soon as I get the lead out.

Flatdog had touch of runs (I'm putting it down to the heat), 8pm walk last night, 6:30am walk today (back to normal). He's a little wiser today and generally staying in cool house. Late walk tonight again.

She's sleeping far more than usual. Moves from sunshine on the balcony to shade and cold tiles in the hallway.
When we go out, it takes about 3 minutes before she's panting like mad.

When we go out to train/exercise, she's fine - for around 10 minutes, then she gives up and lies down.

Earlier, she was eating the dust/sand and grass, as she was so thirsty (I forgot water and didn't think it would be this bad, as the temperature is lower today than usual).
Now she's sleeping again.

She's not eating much, so I try to give her cold food that isn't too dry.

This is how she's sleeping most of the time:
