The doghouse

Do you leave the tv or radio on for your dog(s) when you go out?

So that they "have company" and if so chat radio or music or what? Or do they just want peace? I sometimes leave tv/radio on, sometimes not - not really sure if perhaps it might get on their nerves lol
thanks

I leave the radio on for my dog most Of the time. I don't know if she likes it, but I like to think she does :)

Ah glad I am not the only one then - I know people do it for birds but wasn't sure about dogs ha ha

I leave the radio on for whippetyboy. Not too sure if it helps but I fret when I forget. Radio at home and radio in the car are both tuned into our favourite radio station and I sometimes find myself thinking 'Whippetyboy is listening to this' as I am driving along Blush

Grin at lovemydog!

He is not even a true whippety boy, he is 90% whippety with something else thrown in....

Was your ex boyfriend a whippet lover or was he merely slim and slinky looking?

OOoh, I love greyhounds. We went to a greyhound rescue to adopt a grey and ended up failing miserably and coming home with whippety boy.... The dc just could not resist him (he is darn cute!) One day I will have a grey (or two...) Smile

hi number nine - lady who runs local greyhound rescue centre has greyhounds and whippets and says greys more affectionate - not sure as I have never had whippets - love all dogs really though glad mine don't swim I don't think I could cope with swimmers and like having 2 as I live alone so they are company for each other - one girl one boy

Nope. Hasn't even crossed my mind. He's a dog, he can go to sleep til I get home.

No.
Waste of electricity

and the cats are either asleep or in the garden.
For dogs - surely you want them to be pleased when YOU come home, not having spent the day zoning out of human voices

Yes, we leave Radio 4 on for our dog.

I worry she would get lonely if we didn't. Glad I'm not the only one!

I do, I leave the radio on (low energy one) my greyhound used to live with 3 other greys and this is the first time he's been an only dog so I like to think it keeps him company Xmas Smile

I leave QVC on for my dogs. They're only ever left for a few hours at most, and the gentle hum of grown adults trying to find positive things to say about multipacks of simulated diamond earrings both masks the sound of stuff going on outside that might make them bark annoyingly, and also soothes them in a way that the dramatic tension of, say, Doctors or Homes Under the Hammer, might not.

Hi cunny

lovemydogs I don't know about all whippety types, but our whippety lurcher is the most affectionate dog we have ever owned. He is a contact-seeking missile, will snuggle up and insist part of him (preferably all of it) is in contact with you. He is lovely, a very cute little dog and I am very very glad we chose him. (well, to be fair, dh and I were aaahing over a few greyhounds whilst whippety boy was working his charms on the dc. Whippety won as the dc put up a convincing argument in his favour Grin )
One day I will have a grey or two, they are just gorgeous.
And the other day I met a rescued whippet / bedlington terrier cross. I fell in love. So I think I like all pointy dogs Grin
