Good god, its amazing! I'm sure i could get Lil to cook me a risotto and clean the toilet for a little piece of it! Best 90p and 15 mins i've ever spent!

Which recipe did you follow? I really need to make some.

450g liver blended up, 1egg, enough s/r flour to make it a dropping consistency, cooked for 25 mins :o)

I want to make this - but am pregnant so my sense of smell is very good! Is it foul smelling - will it make me heave?? :)

I actually thought it smelt quite nice whilst cooking but i dont mind liver so i may be a bit weird! The worst bit is blending it, tubes!! Bleurgghh...

The stench of it all being mixed together really made me heave. It was horrific. I used this one and you can do it in the microwave!

I agree, smells disgusting. But as you say, doggy crack, cheap as chips and it's got to be healthier than treating with frankfurters, which was what I was doing before.

I think I may try it. I will have a peg on my nose :)

Oooh, ok for a 13 week old lab? Mind you, she'll eat anything so I very much doubt she'll turn up her nose at this!

Will give it a go - thanks for the recipe.

Think I should have gone for the microwave one in the hope the smell may be reduced. I have one in the oven now and it is the most disgusting thing I have ever smelt. Flynn had better like it!

I'm sure flynn will love it. I was like Dr feckin Doolittle down the field earlier. Had 2 labs, a rottie and a beagle all following me sniffing my pockets!

He is a fan, I held one piece out for him and after he stopped wiggling proceeded to sit, try shaking paws and lie down without me asking. It must smell divine to dogs.

At least the recipe makes loads as I don't fancy making it again for a while, but I detest liver anyway so not the best person to be making it.

What do you do when they're so desperate to get the treat, they can't obey properly? Eg they can only sit for a minute, and can't resist whining?

My heart is not hard enough to deny them the treat...but then I'm rewarding whining...

How do you store it? Does it dry out so it keeps naturally, or do you freeze it? If frozen, do u have to thaw before giving it to them?

groovejet · 05/07/2012 21:06

I store in the fridge, well wrapped!! From what I have read it is freezable and given the small bits should defrost quickly.

It freezes fine. I have the pleasure of making it often. I know people who add garlic, but given that it reeks anyway I don't bother
