My poor staff is having her first seaason and the hormonal changes have caused a rash on her chest and under her arms!

She went to the vets on friday and he has perscribed her some cream. She doesn't like having it on but she can't reach to lick it/scratch it off, luckily!

I'm also having to be careful when I let her out as my male dog is desperate tto get to her, she is only 7 months old so no way am I ever going to let that happen (my male dog is an outside dog as he is just too big (st bernard) to have inside. He is 5 now.

I have never known her to be so whiney! If I leave her in the kitchen she whinges, if I go to the toilet she whinges, she is perfectly capable of getting up the stairs she is just being lazy!!

She is obviously suffering with her first season and she is currently laid on her blanket, she has brought it in from the kitchen.

Is there anything I can do, other than give her plenty of hugs and love? I feel so sorry for her!

Distract her if you can - extra training, anything really. Try to make as little fuss about it as possible.

I've had really, really good results with this - both for during and post season. A phantom pregnancy of some degree is bound to follow and it has helped Daisydog3 a lot with hers.

Be really careful with the two dogs - is the St Bernard entire? It only takes a moment of distraction for it all to go wrong. Can you not ship one of them out for the duration of the season? The dog will be finding it terribly distressing.

I shall try the extra training, I'll get some treats in today and get clicking!!

I've tried convincing family and freinds to take him for a few days and I'm letting the staff out in the front garden and him out in the back, he is securly tied up and had a 6ft fence to get past!! I'll usually put him in his pen before I let her out anyway, as she can be a little hyper with him and if he puts her in her place I risk serious accidents, so he is usually away when she comes out.

He is 'all there' for the time being, he has been studded a few times and one of the people I have studded him with is wanting another batch of pups so I'm awaiting her call saying her bitch is in season (hopefully the next week or so) after that he is getting done asap!!

Don't be caught out when your bitch is in her pole dancing/trollopy bit of her season - she will do as much as she possibly can to get to the dog and I wouldn't think a 6 foot fence would stop her!
