What toys do your dogs like that can survive a lot of chewing?

My husky x does not normally like toys, but when I saw a kong wubba for dogs I thought he might like it, since my cats love the cat version ( these things ).

He loved it! I have never seen him so happy with a toy (usually he ignores them). But he is a very strong chewer and it only lasted a few play sessions. To be honest, I was surprised it lasted that long, so will buy him another one from time to time.

Any other ideas for toys that he might like, and which will survive, at least for a while?

Meaty bones from the butcher are the only 'toys' that last here. Easily replaced (free) and nutritious.

Heh. He does like bones, but they usually give him the runs. I was thinking more of something he could play with indoors, on the living room carpet...

Have you tried any of the 'tugger' ropes ? I have just bought my chewer a huge one (is in fact much bigger than she is ) and it seems to be a big hit.

She can drag it around with her, and sit and chew on it, I think the theory behind them is also that they help to 'floss' their teeth, so healthy too !

We've had loads of toys over the years, I'm always on the lookout for strong long-lasting ones too !

PS We also found, the longer the tugger, the better, it saves on fingers !

Mine loves the Wubba, too.

You can get a kong toy that is the rubber red bit but had blue thick straps sticking out for tugging. Possibly worst description ever but am sure it'll be on Amazon or something- mine came from tk maxx.

He doesn't play tug (you see why he is a difficult customer) but that sounds like a great idea for our other dog, MrsVamos. Thanks for the suggestion.

Inthepotty, I have just looked on the Kong website and found the thing you mean - Kong Tails. It still has the tail but he can chew on the rubber thing so it should last much longer. It looks perfect for him, thanks.

Maybe worth trying a google or ebay for different types of kong toys ?

I would also second Inthepottys suggestion of TKMaxx. They can be surprisingly good for toys.

Yes I am impressed with all the kong toys I've tried so far. Even the wubba, it didn't last long with the husky but would have lasted much longer for Dog2. The tails looks perfect because the rubber is more durable, but otherwise it's the same idea, minus the squeak.

Our sibe has wrecked almost every toy he has ever had ! Any ball or anything that came with a 'squeaker' didn't squeak for very long, he would squeak it till the squeak died !

He's a old boy now so not so interested in toys, which our pup (rough collie) finds baffling. She is always taking him some of her favourites, and cannot work out why he doesn't want to play ! She's starting to teethe, I think, I wish someone would come up with a puppy toy you could freeze or refrigerate like you do for teething babies !

I'd also recommend a Kong toy, I bought one for my SBT last Christmas and it's still knocking about somewhere. I fill it with peanut butter and leave her to it, keeps her busy for a few hours!

Oooh, I couldn't possibly give the puppy any foods like that yet ! But the cold may help with her teething, poor little love. Her gummies feel so hot !

I have debated long and hard about the Nylabones. My girl sibe had one for years, and it was a much loved and chewed choc flavour one. They don't seem to be as good as they used to be, these days.

The puppy ones are very small, so I would just go for a 'normal' sized one if I did get one. But then I get side-tracked. How do I know if pup would prefer a bacon flavour to a chicken or chocolate flavour ? I can't do nearly £40 on just Nylabones !

My pup is supposed to have a sensitive stomach. Haven't had any problems yet, but that's not to say nothing will arise.
